The Key to success is....

If all of your HABITS were great, would you ever be anything but successful? If all of your HABITS were perfect, would ever feel ‘lack’ in your life? The clear answer to these questions should shed light on what the REAL key to success if… HABITS.

Our society has created a world that focuses on desires and goals but never habits nor process. The true measure of success is the process, the habits we form to attain that which we desire. Here are some practice examples and habits that can be formed around common real-world desires.

I want to lose weight!!!

  • Start by making better choices at breakfast… for 90 days choose a high protein, moderate fat and low carb breakfast... Example: 2 eggs, 3-4oz of ground beef, ½ cup of blueberries or raspberries

  • Stop eating after 7:00pm, only eat between the hours of 7am – 7pm

  • Eliminate processed sugar from your drinks... an alternative: choose water, green tea, or some form of a non-sweetened drink

The easy thing to focus on is the desire to lose weight, which in turn will make you create massive steps. However, the best thing to do is start small and focus on the habit. If you follow through on the habit of eating a better breakfast you will instantly move towards the goal of losing weight!

I want to be RICH!!!

  • How much money do I save per month?... Take 10% from every check and put it aside

  • Do I take time each day to learn more in my field of work?... Read 20 minutes per day to increase your knowledge in your field; schedule the time

  • Do I purchase things based on emotion… or do I only purchase what I need? ... Categorize every expense in to three categories: Utilities – Essential Goods – Leisure

One of the best tips I have ever received regarding finances was simple and to the point… match your financials to your lifestyle desires. One must learn to align your financial habits and work ethic with your financial goals. You can do this by organizing how you make money and spend money, which is the best habit you can form to create discipline within your financials. Financial discipline creates long lasting wealth, which is how you become financially free.

I DESERVE a promotion!!

First, start by recognizing that you deserve nothing that you do not earn. Entitlement is the quickest path to failure.

  • The next time you have an assignment from work or school write down one thing you can do extra, that goes above and beyond what is asked of you, then do it!

  • Volunteer to take something off the plate of the person you report to… willingness to work more will get you credibility!

  • Be prompt… every meeting time or start time move make sure you are 10 minutes ahead, every time!

  • Every time you have a negative thought or complaint replace it immediately with a positive thought or a solution to the problem you are complaining about.

Although these work tips are small it will guarantee that you will be noticed by the higher ups in your profession. A willingness to do extra or go beyond what is required is the quickest way to EARN a promotion.
